On 19 March 2025, Ambassador Pattarat Hongthong met with Mr. Florian Frauscher, Director General of Economic Affairs, Innovation and International Policy, Federal Ministry of Labour and Economy, and Ms. Amelie Groß, Vice President of Austrian Chamber of Commerce (WKO) to discuss avenues to strengthen economic cooperation between Thailand and Austria.
On this occasion, the Ambassador emphasized the significance of enhancing bilateral economic relations between the two countries, highlighting the presence of numerous Austrian companies in Thailand as well as Austria's potential as a gateway into Europe for Thai goods. Moreover, Austria’s best practices and innovation could be beneficial for the improvement of Thai workers’ capabilities and skills to achieve the Thailand 4.0 goals. The Austrian side concurred that there is a potential for growth in trade and investment between the two countries, particularly in sectors such as clean energy and green technology, agriculture, pharmaceuticals, and SME/startup collaboration. Both sides also explored the possibility of facilitating the recruitment of skilled Thai workers to address labor shortages in Austria.
