Ambassador paid a courtesy call on Director General for Bilateral Affairs and EU Common Foreign Policy

On 16 February 2023, H.E. Mrs. Vilawan Mangklatanakul, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Thailand to the Republic of Austria, paid a courtesy call on H.E. Mr. Gregor W. Kössler, Director General for Bilateral Affairs and EU Common Foreign Policy, Federal Ministry for European and International Affairs of the Republic of Austria.

Both sides agreed to strengthen the cordial relations between Thailand and Austria. On the economic cooperation, Thailand is one of the most favourable destinations in the Asia-Pacific region for Austrian businesses and tourists. The signing of the draft Thailand-EU Comprehensive Partnership and Cooperation Agreement (PCA) and the resumption of the FTA Thailand-EU negotiation would increase collaborative momentum, enhance trade and attract more investments.

Ambassador Vilawan also highlighted that the Foreign Ministries of both sides should work more closely to elevate the bilateral ties. The establishment of the Political Consultations is one of the agendas that both sides agreed to pursue including the possibility of bilateral meetings between the two Foreign Ministers on appropriate occasions.
