The CTBTO Ministerial Meeting
On 13 June 2016, H.E. Mr. Arthayudh Srisamoot, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Thailand to the United Nations Office in Vienna, was the Head of Thailand's delegation to participate in the Ministerial Meeting of the Preparatory Commission of the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization (CTBTO PrepCom), which took place in the Vienna International Center. The purpose of the Meeting was to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty (CTBT) and the establishment of the CTBTO PrepCom in order to promote the universalization and entry into force of the CTBT after it has been opened for signature for 20 years.
On Thailand's part, the Ambassador delivered his national statement in the Meeting, which stressed Thailand's firm position against all nuclear testing and its support to nuclear disarmament and non-proliferation, and CTBTO's international monitoring stations and verification regime as well as Thailand's contribution in hosting two international monitoring stations. In addition, the Ambassador also reaffirmed Thailand's commitment to work with the international community toward the universalization and entry into force of the CTBT.
