On 31 August 2021, the Royal Thai Embassy in Vienna organised the event called << Let’s ,,Chef”together >> to promote Thai food through gastro-diplomacy (#ThaiKitchenToTheWorld). Chefs de cuisine from the Residences of Ambassador/Chief of Mission from a wide geographical representation, such as USA, Japan, Peru, Jordan, Sri Lanka, as well as the spouse and daughter of the Dutch Ambassador, were invited to cook a 3-courses Thai lunch, comprising of Shrimp Cakes (Todd Mun Kung), Chicken Green Curry (Gaeng Khiao Whan Gai) and Banana in Coconut Milk (Kluay Buad Chee). The recipes and ingredients used are authentic traditional Thai cuisine. Mr. Somphob Najai, chef de cuisine at the Thai Residence led the demonstration. The event is well attended by many diplomatic missions, press and media who will help promoting the event to a wider public.
The cuisine remains an important diplomatic tool. Through gastronomy and culinary experiences, one can learn and feel the culture, history, dedication, and the way of thinking of other countries and peoples.
