On 11 Nov. 2021, Ambassador Sriswasdi, together with Minister-Counsellor (Industrial Affairs) and staff at the Royal Thai Embassy visited Lenzing company in Lenzing (240 km., west of Vienna), the world leading company in the production of textile fibers. The delegation was greeted by Mr. Cord Prinzhorn, CEO, and Mr. Dominic Köfner, Vice President Cooperate Communications & Public Affairs, who provide general briefing and information about the performance of the company in the past years, as well as its plans and investments around the world, in particular in Thailand. The delegation also had the opportunity to visit the plant and to observe the cycle of production lines of various types of fibers.
Lenzing AG invested around 400 million EUR in the construction of the world’s largest lyocell plant in Prachinburi Province, Thailand, with the production capacity of 100,000 tons per year. The facility is expected to be completed by the end of 2021, and to start the first production in the first quarter of 2022, with a possibility of further extension of production capacity in the future. The carbon-neutral lyocell plant in Thailand will use the latest technology which is environmentally friendly, and be supplied with sustainable biogenic energy (biomass) and circular materials – in line with the Royal Thai Government’s BCG economic model.
