Thailand Joining the CPPNM and its Amendment
On 19 June 2018, H.E. Mr. Songsak Saicheua, Ambassador and Resident Representative of Thailand to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), presented to H.E. Mr. Yukiya Amano, Director General of the IAEA and depositary of conventions under the aegis of the IAEA, Thailand’s instrument of accession to the Convention on the Physical Protection of Nuclear Material (CPPNM) as well as instrument of ratification of the Amendment to the CPPNM.
The CPPNM and its Amendment will take effect for Thailand from 19 July 2018. The joining of Thailand to the CPPNM and its Amendment demonstrates Thailand’s commitment to strengthening nuclear security at home and fostering international cooperation in this respect.
