Thailand promotes using nuclear science and technology for development
The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) organized the Ministerial Conference on Nuclear Science and Technology from 28-30 November 2018 in Vienna. The Conference was intended to promote the utilization of nuclear science and technology in the national development and realization of the Sustainable Development Goals of Member States of the IAEA, as well as to underline the importance of the IAEA Technical Cooperation Programme in supporting the Member States in that regard.
The Thai delegation was led by Ms. Thitiporn Chirasawadi, Chargé d' Affaires ad interim of the Royal Thai Embassy in Vienna. In delivering Thailand’s national statement at the Conference on 29 November 2018, Ms. Chirasawadi highlighted the importance Thailand attaches to the peaceful uses of nuclear technology and its applications for development as well as reaffirming Thailand’s commitment to further strengthening its cooperation with the IAEA. In addition, the IAEA invited Associate Professor Dr. Suchana Chavanich from Chulalongkorn University in Thailand to speak at the Conference on the topic of "Taking actions to combat climate change’s impact on the ocean".
