Thai Designers shining at MQ Vienna Fashion Week 2016
On Thursday, 15 September 2016, six upcoming Thai designers, namely, Black Sugar, Iconic, RIVA, SIX P.M., Jittrakarn and Ornaments & L'Or - presented their latest collection at MQ Vienna Fashion Week, Museum Quartier, Vienna. The show ended with a special collection of young designers from ‘Mode- und Kunstschule Herbststrasse Vienna’ showcasing sustainable fashion with innovative designs made from eco-friendly materials from Thailand.
For the seventh consecutive year rising stars from the Thai fashion community have joined MQ Fashion Week. The project was under the sponsorship of the Office of Commercial Affairs of Thailand and the Royal Thai Embassy in Vienna, with an aim to promote visibility of Thai fashion designers to Austrian and European markets.
Speaking at the press launch on 14 September 2016, Thai Ambassador Arthayudh Srisamoot underscored the vital contribution of Thai fashion industry to the government’s push towards a creative economy. Ranked in the top five of the Asian fashion industry, the Ambassador asserted that variety of materials, skilled craftsmanship, innovative design and distinctive features are among the strengths tin the rise Thai fashion brands.
