Thailand Joining the CNS and Joint Convention

On 3 July 2018, H.E. Mr. Songsak Saicheua, Ambassador and Resident Representative of Thailand to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), deposited Thailand’s instruments of accession to the Convention on Nuclear Safety as well as the Joint Convention on the Safety of Spent Fuel Management and on the Safety of Radioactive Waste Management to H.E. Mr. Yukiya Amano, Director General of the IAEA and Depositary of both conventions.

Both conventions will be effective for Thailand starting from 1 October 2018. The accession to both conventions demonstrates Thailand’s firm commitment to the safety of its nuclear facilities, installations and operations.
