The International Ministerial Conference on Nuclear Power
H.E. Mr. Songsak Saicheua, Ambassador and Resident Representative of Thailand to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), headed the Thai delegation at the International Ministerial Conference on Nuclear Power in the 21st Century from 30 October to 1 November 2017 in Abu Dhabi, the United Arab Emirates. The Conference was co-organized by the IAEA and the Nuclear Energy Agency of the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development.
In delivering Thailand’s national statement on 31 October 2017, Ambassador Saicheua stated that Thailand recognized the benefit of nuclear power in clean and low-carbon electricity generation, which can contribute to future energy security, promote sustainable development, and mitigate climate change. However, nuclear safety and security are paramount in operating any nuclear power program. Thailand would continue to monitor the global development of nuclear power in formulating its future nuclear energy policy.
