Miss Morakot Sriswasdi, Ambassador of Thailand to Austria presented to Miss Natasa Praha, Head of Diplomatic Protocol
On 29 January 2020, Miss Morakot Sriswasdi, Ambassador of Thailand to Austria presented to Miss Natasa Praha, Head of Diplomatic Protocol, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Slovenia, a copy of the Letters of Credence accrediting her as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Thailand to the Republic of Slovenia, with residence in Vienna. Ambassador Sriswasdi will present the Letters of Credence to H.E. Mr. Borat Pahor, President of the Republic of Slovenia on 30 January 2020.
Ambassador Sriswasdi paid a courtesy call with H.E. Mr. Dobran Bozic, State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Both sides acknowledged the importance of enhancing relations in all dimensions with a focus on 1) economic cooperation through exchanges of business delegations in order for the private sectors to realize each other’s full potentials 2) exchange of high level visits including royal visits 3) educational cooperation since Slovenia will open UNESCO-sponsored International Research Center on Artificial Intelligence Center in March 2020 and is interested to learn Thailand’s experience in distance learning, and if possible, will adapt and use such technology in remote countries like in Africa 3) multilateralism such as peace keeping and peace building, humanitarian issues, environment and sustainable development. In addition, Ambassador Sriswasdi conveyed her appreciation to Slovenia for her support in cooperation with Asian Partners for Co-operation in the framework of Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE).
Ambassador Sriswasdi also paid a courtesy call with H.E. Miss Eva Stravs Podlogar, State Secretary of Ministry of Economic Development and Technology. Both sides agreed to 1) enhance trade and investment as both countries are considered hub in the region and already have various economic agreements as basis for further cooperation. It is encouraged to organize regular business delegations from Slovenia to attend the inter trade fairs in Thailand in areas which Slovenia has interest such as logistics, food products, medical and pharmaceuticals 2) increase cooperation on tourism since tourism are the main driver of both countries’ economies (tourism accounts for 12 percent of Thailand’s GDP) 3) In addition, Ambassador Sriswasdi updated the Slovenian side on important information, including Thai – EU FTA, Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP), Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) as well as Thailand’s investment incentives and benefits.
Ambassador Sriswasdi also met with Mr. Matej Rogeli Director, International Relations Department, Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Slovenia. She stressed her intention to further enhance bilateral cooperation in order to realize its full economic potentials of both countries and with concrete outcomes. This can be done by organizing regular exchange of visits of business delegations of both countries. She also provided useful information on RCEP and EEC which were of much interest of the Slovenian side, leading to constructive discussions and exchange of views on those topics.
