The 5th of December "World Soil Day"

Since 2013, the United Nations has declared the 5th of December as World Soil Day to increase awareness and understanding of the importance of soil for food security and essential ecosystem functions. The date of 5 December had been chosen to honour His Majesty the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej The Great’s Birthday and works in the area of soil science and soil resource conservation and sustainable management.
