1. TYPE OF ED VISA
1.1 Non-Immigrant “ED” Visa is issued to applicants who wish to pursue their full-time education in private and public educational institutions in Thailand; internship and training in governmental organizations and international organizations; internship and training as part of an academic curriculum; or any other educational programmes in Thailand.
1.2 Non-Immigrant “ED PLUS” Visa is issued to international students currently studying at universities/institutions in Thailand at a bachelor’s degree level or above. During the course of study, Non-ED PLUS Visa holders can depart and re-enter Thailand without the need for a re-entry permit. Universities/institutions will submit the visa extension application on behalf of the students. In addition, Non-ED PLUS Visa holders are allowed to extend their stay in Thailand for 1 year after graduation, to seek employment, travel or take part in other activities, and are eligible to change the type of visa in Thailand if employed.
2. ELIGIBLE APPLICANTS FOR ED VISA
This type of visa is issued to applicants who wish to enter Thailand for the following purposes:
- to study in academic institutes
- to visit on a study trip or observation tour, participate in projects or seminars, attend a conference or training course organized by the government agency, state enterprise, international organization, Embassy and Consulate
- to study as a foreign Buddhist monk
3. ED VISA CONDITIONS
3.1 ED Visa is valid for a single entry for education purposes only.
3.2 ED Visa is valid for 90 days from the date of issuance. Travellers must enter Thailand within the said 90-day period. They will be allowed to stay in Thailand for a period of up to 90 days, counting from the date of entry. During the 90-day period of stay, if they wish to leave and re-enter Thailand, they are required to apply for a re-entry permit (single or multiple) before departure. If they leave Thailand without a re-entry permit, the current stay permit shall be considered void.
3.3 Extention of visa is possible. Those qualified may obtain an additional one-year stay permit, counting from the date of entry to Thailand. The extension of stay is at the discretion of the immigration officer. Extension application can be made at the Office of Immigration Bureau (visit www.immigration.go.th for more information)
3.4 If the ED Visa holder breaches the entry conditions, the stay permit will be revoked and he/she will be prohibited from entering Thailand in the future.
4. ED VISA APPLICATION PROCEDURES
**IMPORTANT INFORMATION**
- When applying, please exercise extra caution in choosing the right TYPE OF PASSPORT. If you are not a government officer, DO NOT choose "Official/Service Passport"; instead, choose "Ordinary Passport".
- Once submitted, the visa application cannot be amended.
- If there are mistakes in the application, e.g. wrong spelling of names or wrong passport numbers, the application will be rejected.
- Applicants will be required to apply and pay again. No refund is possible.
- Applicants must ensure that all their details are correct before submitting and paying for their applications.

- Verification link will be sent via email.
- Your account can be used to apply for an e-Visa for yourself and also other people in your family (up to 10 applications at a time).

- Upload biodata page of passport & a photo taken within the last 6 months (must be in JPG or .JPEG format, Size not exceeding 3 MB)

- Applicant is required to upload his/her passport pages which contain all travel records for the past 12 months (1 year) since the last international trip.
- Applicant must apply for e-Visa via specific Embassy/Consulate conforming with his/her consular jurisdiction and residency. Applicant is required to upload document that can verify his/her current residency.
- Please upload your picture holding the photo and information page of the passport.
- A copy of bankbook with minimum balance of 500 Euro on account [may be required]
- Proof of current or previous education [may be required]
- Upload additional supporting documents, as determined by purposes of visit
- To study in a basic education level (primary, elementary, and secondary school
- Approval letter from concerned authority under the Ministry of Education
- Letter confirming enrollment details from school signed by authorized person together with a copy of ID card or passport of the signer
- School’s registration certificate or license to establish an educational institute issued by the competent authority or Private Education Commission
- Letter from the institute addressed to the Royal Thai Embassy in Vienna [may be required]
- To study in a short course (Thai or English language)
- Approval letter from concerned authority under the Ministry of Education
- Letter confirming enrollment details from school signed by authorized person together with a copy of ID card or passport of the signer
- School’s registration certificate or license to establish an educational institute issued by the competent authority or Private Education Commission
- To study in a higher education level (university and college)
- Letter confirming enrollment details from school signed by authorized person together with a copy of ID card or passport of the signer
- Academic certificate from previous education level
- University’s registration certificate or license to establish an educational institute issued by the competent authority or Private Education Commission
- Letter from the institute addressed to the Royal Thai Embassy in Vienna [may be required]
- To undertake cirricular internship (part of educational programme)
- Letter confirming the curricular internship from the visa applicant’s university/educational institute
- Letter confirming the internship/participation in a programme from the company/international organization\
- To attend workshop training or seminar organized by International Organisation
- Letter confirming the internship/participation in a programme from the international organization
- Proof of current employment [may be required]
- To study in a basic education level (primary, elementary, and secondary school
- Pay application fee online: 70 Euro (single entry, non-refundable)
- Check status
- You can monitor status of your application by logging into your account.
- You may also withdraw your application.
- Once approved, e-Visa will be sent to you via email. You may also download your e-Visa through your online account.

5. ED VISA PROCESSING TIME
- Usually 3-10 working days, depending on the completeness of documents, type of visa, and nationality of the applicants.
- Please apply for e-Visa at least a month (but no longer than 3 months) before travelling.
- Applications by certain nationals can take up to 3 months for approval.
- The Royal Thai Embassy cannot accommodate urgent requests. The applicants must ensure that they leave sufficient time for their visa application process before their planned departure.
6. REMARKS
- Documents in foreign languages must be translated into Thai or into English.
- In the absence of a required document, a letter explaining the unavailability of such document must be provided.
- Consular officers reserve the right to request additional documents as deemed necessary.
- Visa processing fee is subject to change without prior notice.
- Nationals of certain countries are required to apply for a visa only at the Thai Embassy or Consulate-General in their home/residence country or at the designated Thai Embassy.
- The applicants must provide genuine documents and information. If the applicants provide fraudulent documents or false information, their applications will be rejected and they may be prohibited from entering Thailand in the future.
